When in the closed position the black anodized aluminum top is nearly flush with your table, the edges are rounded to create a near seamless look.  When you press the top the unit flips up at a 45 degree angle so you can plug in your connections. To close, unplug your connections and press the top till it latches and it is back to being hidden in your table.
